This has been on my to do list for awhile. Missing the brush tube caps, springs, and brushes. The PU assembly rollers were seized and the name plate falling off. The wheels had discolored to a shade of pink and slight surface rust on everything but hey, the field winding and armature passed testing.
After rooting in the antique nut jar and roughing in the tube caps, figured I'd better start taking photos and the motor passed preliminary start up. I was on the fence about the wheel paint but decided to let them be after some cleaning. At some point the motor was worked on so am not sure the wheels are original or if this is actually a transition era critter. There's no bushings for the axles or armature and the axles are squared off on the ends as seems to be the norm for these 100 + yr. frames- so run time is going to be very limited.
The brushes were turned down from common #92's available today and the springs made from 3/32" springs available at the local hardware. The new PU assembly was made from all period parts I had on hand and name plate reattached. The wire is cloth covered #24 solid.
Actually is the second one of these I've gotten running although the first one had all the brush parts intact. At any rate, she's a little noisy but heck after this long who wouldn't be?
