Hello,

I've been setting up my MTH trains for many years but now I'm bewildered! I have an 8'x9' MTH layout with 3 separate ovals - no crossovers, sidings or switches - with 2 lock-ons per oval (14 gauge wire). All MTH track. Z4000 transformer with DCS version 4. PS-3 diesel engines, no cars. Track signal "10" on each oval. I added each engine to DCS separately, they all run great.

Can you please help me with this?  I can run 1 or 2 engines on a loop all day. 18 volts, 0.0 to 0.1 amps. When I put a THIRD engine on the loop, the Z4000, without showing any increase in amps, kicks it's breaker. Thanks,  Glenn

All 3 engines are on the same loop or oval ?   Each engine should draw about 2 amps or under. If you are running smoke figure a little under 4 for each one.

.1 amp doesn’t seem right. Is it one particular engine ?   Can you use any combination of 2 but just not add the 3rd engine into the equation.

Are you running them using the All Feature ?  Do they all start at the same time without issues just sitting there idling ?
