Hello Everyone...I am a public school teacher who loves trains. I am a teacher in a public school working with boys who have autism or some form of emotional disturbance. Every year my colleague and I set up a train platform in the lobby for the entire student population (and adults) to enjoy.
What I would like to do is build a layout in the classroom with the kids so the students could enjoy them more often. I would like to use the trains as a reward for students who are doing well and as a team building/social skills lessons.
What I am asking if is anyone would be interested in donating some old track. I am looking for some old school Lionel tubular track that someone would like to donate to the classroom. I would pick up or pay postage. I have some track from when I was a boy, but most of it is old, rusty, and does not work too well. I have tried cleaning it, but I think my track has seen better days.
I have a cheap starter set with a engine and cars, but I would like to add some Lionel tubular track that someone out there no longer uses.
My work email is baike (@) spring-ford.net. Thank you for the support with this project. Brian
This was originally posted over in the WTB.....and while I am not sure it is ok for it to be posted in this main forum...well, the 'cause' is a pretty dang good one. I had some track I am sending - and if anyone else can help these kids out...I know it would make a difference for them. I think it is such a good cause the I'm even going to pay the shipping. If I was 10 bucks from bankruptcy - I was already in trouble! Hope you guys (and gals!) can lend a hand if you can.
