Except for this forum, I never heard of Menard's. What is it, and why is it significant enough to warrant its own forum?
A home-improvement chain, much like Home Depot/Lowe's. They're based in the Midwest and that is where their corporate footprint resides.
A high-level executive (possibly the CEO) is into O-Gauge trains, and has introduced a company-branded line of 'O' buildings and freight cars (so far, a boxcar and two varieties of flatcars carrying a variety of loads), made from their own tooling, and a line of tubular track introduced this month.
Menards' O-Gauge Stuff (it's part of the Home and Decor/ Menards Collectibles section of their website)
Pricing on these items is significantly lower than the "Big Three"(Four?), mostly because the company's bread-and-butter lie...well, in the home-improvement sector. Most of the products are available in-store during the holiday season, and online (with few exceptions) at all times, making it possible to obtain their trains, buildings and track from outside their corporate footprint.
And as well as being a Forum advertiser, they have a representative on the forum to make product announcements, answer questions and address any snags in the buying experience
Lastly, only one person (so far) brought up the question of a need for a Menards' sub-forum. It's just the novelty of this supplier and the interest generated by the surprise appearance of their new products, (which remain secrets until they appear on their website/in-store/advertising/forum announcement) spawning a smattering of new threads. There is no real need for a dedicated forum--the threads simmer down after awhile on their own like any other.
