Beautiful!
WOW!
Absolutely outstanding work. Quality workmanship in every one of the photos, at every stage of layout construction.
Regards,
Jerry
Really special!!!

Chris, it's great to see how much progress you've made on the scenery. the long shots in the story really show it off.
We had the pleasure of visiting this fine layout with "Mr. and Ms. Farmer Bill" last weekend. This layout is a true work of FINE ART in O SCALE railroading. Chris and his wife were very gracious about having us in their home.
...keep the rails polished...
This is a great looking layout and an inspiration to someone like me that is in the process of starting to build my first layout.
I enjoyed looking thru all the photos and reading about it's construction.
All I can say is "WOW".
Nicely put together and very realistic looking. Great job overall. The finished product is destined to be first class!
I have always liked his layout. I had planned to use this layout as a guide for mine when/if I ever built one. I love the use of incorporating roofing framing squares into the framework. Genius!!!!!
Very Nice!!! Rick
Very nice layout!
Dave
More than a layout in fact. An exceptional model railroad, well designed and executed by an experienced builder focused on his chosen prototype.
This is 2Rail in its ultimate form. Well done Chris!
Bob

That must have been a great trip as FB and his wife are fun to be with. The pictures were great andI saw some great ideas and different ways of modeling that I can use as I finsh the track laying phase of my Maxatawany RR.
Like all the other responses wow!!!
I liked the idea of the catch fences along the hillside, nice touch!!!!
I got to ask though what are the 2 vacuum attachments on top of the tunnel going to be?
I am thinking part of a ventilation system maybe?
Also the wiring consul very well laid out with all the color code wire and the 6 or 8 pin connectors.
Nice job!!!!!
There is so much attention to detail going on with that layout...remove every engine, every car and it still screams N&W. Those slide fences are amazing not to mention the flawless track work. Seeing those photos was a real treat. Excellent layout.
Glad to see this posted on the forum. Chris's layout is even better when you see it in person. By the way, most of those background mountains you see are but a few inches deep
FANTASTIC!
That wiring tower is like scary work. No plug and play there. Amazing all the phases one goes through to make a model railroad. Hats off to all the lone railroaders out there that weave through all the ins and outs of the hobby.

Farmer Bill,
Thanks for posting this. I was at a show yesterday and people were talking to me about the write up and I didn't know about it. I thought they must have been talking about the description of the layout that was sent out before the open house.
All,
Thanks much for the comments guys. After last weekend I've stayed away from the layout and now I'm motivated to get back to it.
Mark,
I have a Youtube video of the vacuum setup to run through to vacuum the trains. I'll see if I can post the link soon.
Matt. Let's see if this works.
Hey guys,
I built a box with 3 vacuums I can attach. A small vacuum blows air down on the train to blow the dust off. Two larger vacuums attach on both ends and suck the dust out so the dust doesn't escape into the room. I was tired of dusting the other ways. I just run whole trains through the dustbox.
In the video you can see I threw a bunch of dust on the flatcar and gon. When they come back out of the box, most of the dust is gone.
Wow.
I hope those details are on good on those Kohls!
I need to send a few trains over to u for a run thru!
I don't do dusting well!
Makes me think a coal loader and un-loader might work with that setup?
What's the scale wind speed???

All too true. Chris' scenery really succeeds in fooling the eye that there's far greater depth that what is really there. That quality was one of many that spurred me to get his scenery techniques into OST.
Good to see that my local NMRA Division reacted to my prodding them with a sharp stick.
Excellent!!!!! Another of those under the radar model rr's out there!
Christopher,
Great job...the layout looks fantastic.
I see Crescent plugs in the wiring picture, and noticed you are missing the center rail.
I never tire of looking at this layout.....this will be in the hall of fame! Well done Christopher!
Outstanding! Thanks for the heads up.
