From what I can see there have been three offerings of Lionmaster Bigboys:

1. A TMCC version from 2004; $799

2. A Legacy version from 2008; $859

3. A second Legacy version from 2010 with whistle smoke/steam; $899

All appear to be 29" long and will navigate 0-31 curves.

All include in the features list "fan-driven smoke units"; no indication of synchronized puffing smoke.

So my question is do any of them have puffing smoke, or are they all steady stream smoke?

Certainly many Lionels were produced by 2008-2010 that have puffing smoke, but that is usually so listed in the features.

Thanks,

Rod

I have the 2010 version with whistle smoke. It has "puffing " smoke which is synchronized with chuffing sound. It's pretty impressive. I love to run this locomotive around, especially because it will negotiate tighter turns. It is the reason why I pause when contemplating buying a Vision Line 2014 Big Boy (it's that good!).

Hope this helps.

Bruce

They all have synchronized puffing smoke, the legacy versions smoke better and have stronger fans.

On a side note the legacy versions also have the correct number of chuffs per revolution 4 for each set of drivers as opposed to two on the TMCC version if that matters to you.

I used to own the 2008 version it looked, ran, smoked, and sounded great.
