I was watching an auction for some Williams heavy weight (Madison) passenger cars. The seller said they were cast aluminum construction. They went for more than the average Williams NYC HW cars go for. I have never seen aluminum cast HW Williams cars......did they make them??? Or is the buyer going to be very disappointed???

Comment......

A seller that sells a large amount of Williams WbB used eqipment has been selling a lot of items that were caught in a house fire. The items started at $1 so I was watching thinking I could pick them up for parts like truck sideframes, chassis maybe some boards and motors. The bodies were always a total loss. But these thing consistently go for about 75% a nice mint used unit would sell for.....what am I missing???? Some even more than I paid for nice used units????

There's really no accounting for what happens on eBay.  A few days ago I had an auction end under my reserve price, but two days earlier the same model, listed in excellent condition, but with the headlight clearly broken off and dangling from a wire, went for 2X my highest bid.

Sounds like the seller mixed up his terminology. Williams has never made any cars out of cast aluminum. Extruded aluminum, yes--but those are all streamliners, not heavyweights. I'm pretty sure all Williams heavyweights were injection molded plastic.

That was my thinking. I have a bunch of WbB HW and all were plastic.....hope the buyer is understanding.  THANKS!

Agreed! OR the seller refused to do his research in the first place. As a Buyer.. beware! However I would be ****ed if I was lied to at an auction-wether intentionally or not. there is a certaion FIDUCIARY responsibility that an auctioneer has to his potential customers. NOT knowing if an Item is plastic or aluminum is blatantly irresponsible on the auctoneers part.
