After 15 years of service, a drawbar to one of my Ross 101 switches broke.  A couple of emails between Steve and myself, and in the mail arrived a couple of replacement drawbars with pins.  This is for the older style of Ross switches.  No charge for the parts.  This is customer service!!!  That is why I continue to buy and recommend Ross switches and track.  Thanks Steve.

When I was curious about Ross, I dialed up the number and Steve answered every question I had. He did suggest to me to get a design or idea of what I wanted layoutwise so that it would be much easier to order on my end instead of order stuff that perhaps I didn't need. I had emailed him back(after decided on what to build) and forth to fine tune my order(as I wanted Rossroadbed as well) as the website at the time didn't have something listed there. Again Steve took the utmost care in answering every question. Even though the communication was email, it was just like having him talking in the same room answering me as I spoke(with the obvious delay since he doesn't work 24 hours a day nonstop).

I will always be purchasing Ross track and switches(and whatever else I can find), just have to wait for the next layout project(when I have more space and time).

Steve (Brenneisen), the owner of Ross Custom Switches, came to the rescue of the Standard Gauge Module Association several years ago when we wanted to add turnouts to our displays, but found that no existing versions would allow for reliable operation of our wide variety of vintage and modern standard gauge trains.  Working with a committee of our members to test several prototypes, Steve designed and then produced the flawless models we use today.  Literally hundreds of thousands of visitors to train shows have enjoyed seeing long standard gauge trains running for hours with no derailments thanks to Steve.  Kudos!

PS- If you are an operator of Standard Gauge toy trains, you NEED Ross switches!!

Let's just hope we don't lose Ross - and Gar Graves - to retirement and the like.

As my late Uncle Eddie would say(usually someone saying its going to snow), "Bite your tongue!"

I would venture a guess that the companies would be in good hands should Steve or any other folks would retire. I wouldn't imagine that they would idly leave the company in hands that wouldn't continue to carry on what has been some of the greatest track to ever be made.

Steve can't retire yet.  He hasn't made his fabulous switches in an O36 diameter, to replace all that noisy train set track ;-)  O36 is the new O31.  Very certain that O36 would sell better than O31 from today forward.  Not sure what the "set up" costs and effort for a new diameter are like, but it's gotta be worth it.  Just sayin'.
