I picked up a sad Ives 3252, 1923 version, red with cast wheels (really neat), was able to straighten out the body, scratched up, but markings still visible and it's got character.
Got to working on it and it runs, but the 3rd rail rollers are long gone, just have the fiber base plate and what's left of the spring that held the rollers.
Does anyone know of a source for a replacement part either new or used? Would love to get this guy on the track. It wants to run!!

You might want to Google George Tebolt, he carries alot of pre war parts...

Thanks Marty - been there already. George's supply of Ives parts is a shadow of what it once was. I might drop him an email to see if he has any. I believe Model Engineering Works or someone like that used to make a lot of Ives parts, but they are no longer in business.

There may be a suitable Lionel or generic replacement that could be riveted onto the Ives fiber board. I don't know of anyone who is currently making an Ives specific pickup.
Sometimes, sacrificing originality is worth getting it to run. Nobody sees the rollers anyway.
Yeah, I have a couple of roller sets from later Lionel GP's, seem to be low enough profile that I can rivet onto the fiber base plate from the original. Might have to reuse the Ives plate too.
