I had an enjoyable visit to Gulliver's Gate ( www,gulliversgate.com) in Manhattan yesterday and, even though it is HO scale, and didn't run enough trains to suit me, it was fantastic.

A bit pricy  ($27 for us old folks, $18 for vets) but it is 50,000 square feet has 967 buildings and 102 bridges. It represents 25 cities from 5 continents, only NYC was not yet finished.

My favs were:

The Panama Canal. Real water and prototypical operation with huge cargo ships going through it and moving on - ya gotta see it.

The airport (bigger than my whole basement) with planes taking off and landing every 4 1/2 minutes.

A visit takes about 2 hours, if you are in town I'd recommend it

I work 7 minutes from this.  I didn't know they had an operating panama canal and I guess they copied the airport concept from Minitur Wunderland. I thought it was all stationary displays with some trains running throughout.  Thanks, I guess I'll have to go now.

If its still there in mid-November, I'll take my parents there.  From what I remember, they're having rent issues.

I think it will still be there , Dave, they are working on additions and planning the lighting of the Eiffel Tower.
