Today a locomotive owned by our own Brian Vaill (AKA Passenger Train Collector) stopped by the engine house for a visit. I never paid attention to the scale Polar Express before today. A very impressive locomotive.

Looks good on the roundtable Marty, did you take a video of it running on the layout?
Everybody who has had the privilege of getting to know Marty is aware that he is absolutely the "best". The 1225 is the first engine that I have experienced an operational problem with (I am very fortunate) and I called Marty for help. No questions asked, Marty said to send it his way. I sent it out yesterday and today Marty got it working again and sent it back to it's home.
There is nobody that I know in our hobby that is as knowledgeable and is such a super nice guy. If you have never met Marty, at some point you need to make a special effort to shake his hand.
The Midwest Division TCA had a scale Polar Express running on their display at Trainfest. I would agree with you Marty, an impressive locomotive, looks nice with the string of scale PE cars too!
Marty Brian, where's the video lol lol
Looks great.
Thanks,
Alex
Brian,
YOu are 110% correct. Marty is the best!
Erol
Erol, I am not the best. I learn everyday from some very smart people who post on this forum.
Awwwww - come on now Marty. The evidence against you being in 2nd place is overwhelming!
I met Marty at the NJHRs club once. He's the kind of guy who could be intimidating, but he has that "air" of professional and kind, type of guy. He's into passenger trains and I was strictly freight! I actually had to build a passenger train after meeting him to see why he liked them so much.
Now I have an Amtrak O scale down stairs and a G scale one running out back. When the lighting is right and the train is running smoothly, there's a magic about the passenger train that takes me in, like when I was a kid. So, I have to thank Marty for that influence, even if he didn't talk me into it.
I got into trouble for buying the G scale passenger cars until one evening came and their inside lights shone as the train went around the yard. My girl said it was her new favorite train to watch.
Sometimes, you have to be open to try things.
