Quite some time ago there was a lot of enthusiasm for an O-Scale version of Amtrak’s ACS64 “City Sprinter,” but it seems that’s not going to happen. I personally have close to zero familiarity with 3D printing, but I notice that there are several vector files out there of this engine, mostly for video, and some seem to imply you could do a 3D print using the file. In terms of scratchbuiliding, there is not really a lot of exterior detailing to worry about, but how to make the complex curves in the two ends baffles me. Could you 3D print just the ends and then scratchbuild the rest? I would really like to hear other people’s thoughts on the practicality of this.
Perhaps we could make this a cooperative effort. I would gladly design the decals, which can be laser-printed at Staples for about $4 a sheet.
