With all of these exciting new expensive trains available, do you have a section of static powered track that the equipment just sits on for display but is powered so you can access some of the features without actually running them so as to keep it mimt out of box?
I've thought about doing this for the Lionel Niagara since I don't want to put wear on it but would love to see it in the yard on active display.

Why? You will still be operating it to an extent so it will still be used weather the wheels turn or not. If your going to spend that kind of money run the wheels off it and enjoy it! Life is to short.
Nope. You're still putting time on the electronics so it's no longer mint.
I’ve done this in the past, but have been warned off “static” engine displays by forum members. I do still have passenger cars on powered sidings with on/off switches. I like the look sometimes. While I don’t have any MTH engines, members say the engine “clock” will add time on the engine while sitting with power. Something to be aware of I guess.
These trains are not investments. They’re toys. Play with them.

They do, I have a few "Previously owned" MTH engines. A GP7 had 20 miles and over 150 hours on it!

I certainly agree that trains are not investments.
Some folks take as much pleasure from owning a mint item as another might get from running that item.
Heres my static display as i see it.
The track is part if route #4 usually at,14 to 16 volts when its hot. It's legacy so I can use the sounds in the background. I love it.
