OK let me first explain that I have both of Barry's books in hard and PDF formats. They are my go to books for everything.

That being said I have a27x 8 layout and just added a 22x12 expansion on to it, connected by a bridge (can be lifted out) and a Mianne Lift gate that is on order but not in yet (hence the on order).

I have 4 loops on the main board controlled by 1 TIU with a WIFI unit and 2 AIU's connected to it. Power is by a Z4000 and 2 Z1000 Bricks. TIU powered by a Z500 Brick.

The new table ( Yard Table ) is wired in blocks per Barry's book, 10 to 12 track sections per block, isolated from the next blocks by center rail Atlas Insulation Connectors ( am Using Atlas 21st Century track, but as usual am waiting on switches from Atlas ). There is roughly 3 loops passing through this Yard table with siding and a fourth loop with a Millhouse Studio 34" turntable ( I Love this thing ) with several sidings off turntable and in other locations. Sidings are all run to a separate Block (4). Loop 1, 2 and 3 also have their own wiring Blocks ( MTH Blocks). I have a second Z4000 to install on The main table thus removing the 2 Z1000 Bricks which I am going to use to power the second TIU for the Yard Table. Eventually I will have all 4 channels on the Yard table powered by Z1000 Bricks.

I see on pages 121 (section 12) to page 122, about Using Multiple TIU's, How to add a TIU. My question if I understand this correctly, is I move TIU ID#1 ( yes I checked ) to the Number ID #2 Position. Thus keeping everything ( switches, Tracks, Engines ) in place, I THEN add the second TIU into the system as ID#1. THEN I will turn both TIU's to SUPER MODE. OK, I do NOT have to connect this TIU to the other TIU? How do they see each other over isolated blocks? I guess I think they have to be connected due to the AIU's having to be connected to a TIU.

Also I know that the existing TIU is v6.0 as is the remote. Should I upgrade everything to 6.01 before adding the 2nd TIU. Also what about the second remote? I was going to just hold it for a spare but should I go to my DCS Bible and learn how to do a Backup, Clone or whatever? Obviously that remote should be upgraded too. Can I add the second TIU without upgrading just for today as I would like to move a train onto that table tonight when I have company over. AND YES TRAINS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN CELEBRATING THE BALL DROPPING FOR A NEW YEAR! lol

OK that is it for now, will check back later for answers.

PS: Barry I posted here rather than emailing you thinking someone else may be wondering the same thing but like me is afraid to ask. And Thank You for all you do for us regarding DCS. You go above and beyond to research and know all the in and outs of DCS. That takes a HUGE amount of time. Hence me buying 4 copies of the DCS and DCS Wifi in both Digital and Hard.

You have a second remote as a spare?  This will make thing much easier.... Leave Tiu #1 as is. Engines/,  switches will remain associated with tiu #1.... Power it off including the aux power supply.

Power up the new tiu #1... Edit the Address From Tiu #1 to tiu #2.... It's  now TIU #2 ( a 2 blinker)....   Just add tiu #2 to the other remote.  Verify with the read.. (Tiu 1 found with aux box connected, tiu #2 found.)

 Done.

Tiu do not communicate with each other but the remote communicates will all of them. Yep! put both to super.

That's correct. You could also do it the way that Gregg mentions if you have no concern regarding resetting the second remote.

No, you do not connect the 2 TIUs. TIUs do not communicate with other TIUs, just as remotes do not communicate with other remotes.

Absolutely, you should.

If it were me, I'd clone the first remote into the second one.

Obviously that remote should be upgraded too. Can I add the second TIU without upgrading just for today as I would like to move a train onto that table tonight when I have company over.

Yes, you can. However, it's always risky to change things just before engaging in demos!

Thanks for the kind words - they're appreciated!

Gregg and Barry

First let me thank you both. Gregg for the shortcut and Barry as usual your vast knowledge never amazes me anymore. Thanks  you for all you Do. To both of you my hat is off to you. You both responded quickly and for that I am grateful. Also it helps people like me to have knowledgeable people in this forum to ask. Happy New year to you both and everyone else. May the tracks always be clear and the whistle or horn always blow.

The main reason for not upgrading today was a lack of a STEREO Mini Cable that I think I will need. Barry, Yes it is a spare remote and yes I will clone it as you suggested. This means I will be able to use both remotes at the same time correct?

Thank You sir. Only thing that did not work was my lashup went inactive but this is due to a PICNIC. Person in Computer(TIU Handler) not In Computer (TIU). I failed to set both to super mode BEFORE Pressing the Read Button and off course the LASHUP was on TIU 2 Track. DUH! I just moved it to active list after setting bot TIU's to Super Mode.

Thank You again
