I have a dummy 28562 nyc gp7. Any ideas on how to add a pickup roller so as to put in led light? Thank you

I've put them on tenders, don't see why you couldn't graft them to this unit. I'd probably try to do something on that plate where the gearbox is on the powered units. Haven't looked at one of those in person to see exactly how I'd approach it.
Here's a couple of examples of tender installations.

thank you John ivebeen looking at it anddidnt see an obvious place to mount it . was hoping not to alter truck in anyway but my have li ttle.
A roller assembly from the powered unit may bolt right on. I did a quick search on Lionels parts site and it's slim pickings for these engines.
This one from the tmcc f7 will probably work. It has the same style truck. These mount with screws on the side of the gearbox. Look closely around the bottom edge of that truck to see if mounting holes are there.

thank you ricko not too sure there are axle holes kind of large. doesn't look like any mounting holes though
The trucks for the same vintage powered Legacy GP7 are Liondrive, totally different than those trucks I suspect. I doubt you'll find a bolt-on without modifying the truck a bit. Why re you worried about modifying the trucks, it's not a collector item?

That photo of the GP7 truck is the 25862 powered unit that goes with the op's 28561 dummy. Those were Liondrive trucks as well. I owned one but sold it several years ago.
I found the matching collector under parts for 28563, the Great Northern version offered in the same catalog.
The collector came off along with the screws holding that small bottom plate exposing the worm, axle gear, and the bottom of the bearing for the liondrive coupling.
I'll defer to your observation, I don't have that model to look at, I've never seen that dummy, though I have a similar early Legacy vintage GP7.
it does look like would fit I will look ands if I can find that roller assembly , and true its not collector model wouldn't hurt to modify little. thank you very much gentlemen I do appreciate.
just ordered the roller assembly thanks again ricko and john
thanksDavegg, appreciate that I would have thought it would be the same as the gp9 but I guess not.
