Put smoke fluid in your engines after you are done running them for the next time.It settles into the wicking better and you won't be having to blow down the stack as much.Try it.Nick

I agree with you Nick. When you come back to the trains you may see stronger smoke output. I do with my LionChief Plus steamers.
I usually forget if I did that or not, and wind up double-dosing on occasion.
So for me it works best to add fluid just before running.

If you put it in just before running, sometimes the liquid gets stuck in the grates before dropping down to the wick - then you don't know if you put enough in or its too full.
If you are diligent about it - putting in the smoke right after running seems to be a better method to obtain the best and most consistent operation.

What we need is a 'smoke fluid gauge' readable from the command control remotes. Like fuel gauge on vehicle. Well, that's what I need anyway. Maybe we could talk gunrunnerjohn into adding this to his train electronic invention project list.

Hi Nick • I am going to give this a try. My train room is very dry, I have a furnace humidifier but it does not work very well. The wicks seem to dry out.

bUT SOMETIMES WHEN RUNNING AT CLUB I'LL KEEP THE ENGINE GOING FOR AN HOUR OR SO WHICH REQUIRES A REFILL, THE BUBBLING IT ANNOYING AND AMAZING HOW MUCH OIL GETS ON THE ENGINE NEEDING A WIPE DOWN

If you do it this way, I suggest you make sure to run the smoke unit dry before packing the engine up for storage or shipping!
