I never think of it, but after your reply, checked E-Bay out. Seems what I can get for mine, upgrading this one would actually save me money, rather then purchasing a new one with Legacy. This K-Line is 1/48 scale and full of detail. Think I made up my mind with your answer, thanks.

I would upgrade the Berkshire to TMCC. Why spend all the extra money on a Legacy engine when you can upgrade and then pick up some additional rolling stock for the layout with the money you will save. K-Line made some in my opinion the best looking and running engines out there. And now K-Line is starting to become somewhat collectable. Keep the Berkshire you will not be sorry in the long run.

Thanks for offer. But I'm doing the plunge. If it wasn't scale, and as detailed as it is I would re-consider, sell and buy. But actually it probable one of the few were upgrading is money saved rather then selling and buying new. If I ran conventional, it would be a no brainer, keep and run as is. Thanks though.

I'm a bit confused with all this. I have one of those beautiful K-Line B&A Berkshires, and it came already equipped with TMCC. I was not aware that the model came any other way except with TMCC. Granted, the model is beautifully detailed but, sure will NOT pull very many cars, since it has a very small motor installed in the boiler instead of in the firebox, as all other steam models are.

 

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with this model, as beautiful as it is. I'm pretty sure the Legacy version by Lionel, corrected the "undersize" motor issue, but remounting a much larger motor in the firebox, where it should have been in the first place when K-Line made it.
