Additional Notice Of Zinc Pest(Rot)

Even found in legs of T-reproduction Dorfan crane!!

I had zinc pest on several of the glossy finish paint Williams before Bachmann diesels.

I recently had a bunch of coal-porter hoppers and some other cars come out of storage with the trucks and couplers literally disintegrating into chunky die-cast crumbs. 
I'm scared to think about what could happen to expensive somebody's die-cast steam locomotive!

I have had issues with several older williams products having zinc pest. Several loco sideframes, a pilot, streamlined passenger car trucks and heavyweight passenger trucks. Bachmann doesn't keep many parts and rarely restocks sold out parts. I am not going to buy anymore Williams or WBB items because they don't support their products.

I've had to JB W*** several side frames on my old Williams diesels also. I've never had one crumble yet into an unrepairable heap, mostly just clean breaks that are pretty easy to fix. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I had to JB weld a truck back together just a couple of months ago on one of my Williams scale heavyweights due to zinc pest. I have had some sideframes crumble on my Williams PA's to the point that they could not be used. I also had to get replacement scale streamliner trucks from Williams under warranty many years ago because the sideframes broke up shortly after I bought them.

I just had the side frame on the truck of an '80's era Lionel F3 diesel break off when I picked up the unit.  Clean break at the top of the frame.  No pressure on it; it just fell off.  So the zinc pest is everywhere.
