Guys,

I know this is an O gauge forum but the question is as much MTH DCS related as it is G scale (at least 2 rail).  I am interested in setting up a small to medium G scale oval track in a 16'x10' or so room.  I currently run almost all MTH O gauge trains controlled through the DCS TIU/remote.  I bought an MTH GG-1 G scale for display but it is so nice looking it got me interested in setting up a G scale layout.  Here is my problem: besides MTH G scale engines, I also have an eye on the Artistocraft PCC trolley (G scale).  I would like to run both MTH G scale trains and the A-C trolleys on the same track (not necesarily at the same time) with the same MTH DCS/TIU system (I would buy a new set for the G layout).  The MTH GG-1 can run on either AC or DC power.  The Aristo trolley only runs on DC power.  Right now my current TIU is powered by MTH 100W brick.

1. Is there a DC power brick that I can use to power the TIU/track that will allow me to operate MTH G scale with PS2/PS3 and the Aristo trolleys?

2. If not, what DC power pack would you recommend that would work with the TUI that wont break my bank but is decent?

3. Would it be better for me to buy the MTH DCS Commander with power pack (50-1029) that at the flip of a switch I can alternate between AC and DC?  I know I'd give up wireless capability but DC power packs seem to be very expensive.

Again, sorry for the slightly off topic but I cannot seem to find an answer through online research.

1) the tiu's outputs will not work in variable with DC power I believe. You could add a bridge rectifier to the output using an AC pack.

2)sorry, most DC packs are expensive. Aristo makes a good $150 one if you're going to add engines and smaller cheaper ones if you don't. The trouble is the MTH engine won't like them I believe. I have not tried them. I used to run all my G gauge MTH on AC Lionel power packs and it was great. I switched to DC after hearing how much better signal strength would be. I haven't noticed much change.

3)I don't know. How much power are they putting out?
