Advice/opinion needed on MTH F3/F7 diesel

I have an FT ABBA set (hi-rail Proto-2) and an F7 ABBA set (scale wheels Proto-3) and love both of them. They look good and run well. You'd be happy with either the F3 or F7 set referenced in your post. If you can, see if you can track down the extra B-unit (-3) to complete the set.

The paint job is horrendous on both.  None of the Lightning stripe Zip Zags line up.  Illustrations do not show.  But wait till you get them.  Many do not notice till it is pointed out.  Once noticed, it will drive you crazy.  Plus the Gray bands are painted completely different on both.  The F7 has a very dark gray band and the F3 has a very light gray band.  Go figure.

The B unit strips are wider, plus don't match up with the A units strips. I can kind of tell in the MTH pic.  Is that what you are talking about?

Anyone out there have pics? Videos?

Also what's the scoop with the tethers?  Hard in insert, any issues with the tracking of the trucks?
