AF Service Station Sign

I have a 1950's? American Flyer Authorized Service Station Sign I'd like to know more about. Is it worth anything? Is 1950's the right era. I received it from a Service Stations owners heir after he died for helping him get a better value for the inventory. Any info or background would be appreciated.
