The topic frequently appears about the lack of suitable automobiles for the first decade following WWII. It appears that convertibles and 2 door hardtops seem to dominate the limited selection for this era. Since my free-lanced B&O and NYC railroad is set in the summer of 1955, I must be very selective of the vehicles that are on the roads and in the parking lots. Affordability is paramount for a lot of us and even though I do have a few Brooklin models of some otherwise unavailable autos (think Kaiser-Frazer, Dodge Wayfarer, etc.), Brooklins' price point is rather high considering that there are some very good alternatives.

I just recently acquired a very good and (relatively) inexpensive replica of a 1954 Pontiac Chieftain from "American Excellence" diecast modelcars. At $24.95 +s&h, the value was excellent given the quality of the model. "White Box" was the name of this model line.

There are a surprising number of affordable and well detailed examples of ordinary, commonplace two and four door sedans representing the 1945 thru 1955 era.TEXACO 19freight station 2Station 4TEXACO 17

I've been considering ordering the Pontiac, your photo helped me decide to do so.  It's listed as a Chevy Chieftain in the Diecast Direct flyer.  I also like the 49 Ford.  I'd like to see more 4 door sedans from the 40's and 50's that are reasonably priced.  You can use just so many convertibles on a layout.
