It will be interesting to see if a scale 765 shows up for sale in the next catalogs from Lionel and MTH. I sure hope so!

It would be neat having 765 on my layout after riding behind the 1:1 version this weekend. You could buy 765 then buy a NKP cabeese and run a freight train, or pull passenger cars in any livery and call it an excursion train.

I remember after the Altoona Railfest when I rode behind the PRR E8's MTH had them in their next catalog...I bought them and they are beautiful locos.

I bet I am not alone in my thoughts on the 765?

Cheers,

I don't think I could take it if a 765 came out in Lionmaster.  The excitement might just be too much to handle.

Actually, I be thrilled if someone made the a-tank that's been along for the ride with the 765.  Lionel made the 765 (have it), the NKP 8100 (on order) and the Rockville bridge (have it).  All I need to complete the tableau of the 765 crossing the Rockville bridge last year is the a-tank.    This is what I want to recreate on a shelf.

When they annouced last years special Norfolk and Southern employee only steam train, I called Rich Foster at MTH and suggested they do a Rail-King steam engine plus Premier steam engine. I suggested they could make a special annoucement on a flyer, that could be sent to their dealers, who in turn could pass them out to their customers. Maybe, they will do it this year.

Very close but no cigar.  The Lionel one has only one water hatch.  The 765 one has two, one on each end on each side.  Also.  The Lionel item has handrails on the roof.  The 765 one does not.

I may have to go with the 28088.  It is the closest I've seen.

Here's a shot that shows the top of the a-tank. Click on it to inbigerate it so the top is clearer.

I see what you mean. While I was at it, I pulled out a MTH Premier and it's the same configuration as the Lionel. The Lionel piece was made by Korea Brass, so I'd say it would be "modify-able" if you were so inclined.

Oh, and yes I'd be interested in the consist too if it were offered. Selfishly, I would prefer MTH since I have the N&W Heritage unit on pre-order. I haven't seen that blue monster behind the 765, but it would be plausible.

A MTH RK version would sell better than a pure scale. I'd LOVE a scale version but my budget is more suited to a RK size loco.....and as other have said many don't have room for a scale loco. Do both if the market will bear but I'd like to find a MTH RK 2-8-4 and make one myself if needed.
