I should add the tubular track is Menards O54.

Could be a center rail insulator that is loose or isn't aligned or attached perfectly - a heavy train could be moving the rail just enough to make contact with the tie and cause a short.  I had a similar situation with tubular track (not Menards) and it drove me nuts trying to find it.

Do you know if the breaker gets tripped when the train is in a certain location?

One way to check for this problem would be to put power to the track without a train and go around and wiggle the center rail to see if you can cause a short.
