I noticed that 5 (random) of my accessory ports on the AIU don't snap or relay when I trigger them from the remote. Is this normal? Should I send it back? I noticed because I'm wiring tortoise machines with diodes and 5 channels worked and the others didn't, is almost as when I signal to turn off it doesn't send power to channels 1. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? But why other channels do work as intended? Thanks

If you're certain that you have programmed the AIU entries correctly, you can test them with a continuity meter (or a light bulb) as described on page 151 of The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition.

To verify operation of the AIU, proceed as follows:

• First, verify that all connections between the AIU and the TIU are correct. The connection should be between the TIU's AIU Input port and the AIU's TIU Input port. If the cable is mistakenly plugged into the AIU's AIU Connection port instead, serious damage to the AIU can result

• If there's a problem throwing a switch track from the DCS Remote, first ensure that the switch track is correctly programmed in the DCS Remote. Then, check the continuity of the SW port on the AIU to which the switch track is connected by using a multimeter set to read resistance (ohms) as follows:

1. Touch the meter's two test probes to terminals 1 and IN on the AIU's SW port while using the DCS Remote to activate the associated switch track to switch straight. The meter should deflect momentarily.

2. Touch the meter's two test probes to terminals 2 and IN on the AIU's SW port while using the DCS Remote to activate the associated switch track to switch curved. The meter should deflect momentarily.

3. If the above tests are successful and the switch track still will not throw, the problem is most likely in the wiring between the switch track and the AIU. If the tests are not successful, there most likely is a problem with the AIU itself.
