Good morning,

After researching this and finding nothing, I thought I'd post the question here.

Does anyone know whether or not the K-Line Super-Snap switches are compatible with the MTH AIU? My reason for asking is the K-Line switches have designated RH and LH controllers. To my knowledge, a RH controller will not operate a LH switch, and vice versa. Before I buy an AIU (assuming I can find one without mortgaging my house!!), I'd like to know if the K Line switches will work with it. Many thanks.

K-Line SuperSnap switches are controlled with a 'short to ground' just like many other switches, makes it easier to have a non-derailing feature.

I believe the handiness is because of the polarity of the jumbo 10mm LEDs in the controller; if it was light bulbs would only have one controller.

I don't use their controller, mine are controlled by the older Lionel device that listens to the TMCC signal and responds to requests, which I think is the SC-2. I have used the other one as well that uses RS232. No issues, other than I had to cut some circuit trace on some device to have isolated power that would only apply to the Lionel device. Sorry I can't remember part numbers.

When I rebuilt my layout in 2006 using all K-Line Shadow Rail/Super-Snap track and switches, I wanted to retain my 1989 control panel box that substituted mini push buttons and LED’s (using Lionel’s circuitry) for the bulky new K-Line switch controllers. To my surprise, the Lionel circuit didn’t work with these K-line Switches. Once I identified K-Line's circuit variant, a simple mod for each switch circuit in the control panel did the trick.

I can flip switches with either the panel box buttons, or the Cab-1L -or Cab2 handhelds. TMCC is quite adaptable.13-DSC_0002_05b

I am starting to build my layout utilizing SuperSnap switches. Does anyone know if I am able to wire two switches to one controller, assuming they are both the same direction? (Example one left hand controller wired to two left switches) This would be for the crossovers, since they would always have to be in the same position. Thanks,

Jon

Yes, that will work.
