Anyone out there have this loco, 20-5595-1 & some adjoing numbers, issued in 2007?  If so, have you been able to find the proper size traction tire?  Wheels are smaller than regular MTH diesels, so the "Traction Tire Chart" reference to "all diesels" doesn't apply.

I ask on this forum because here is where MTH gurus tend to congregate.

I had the Reading version... very cool prehistoric diesel-electric.

Your post jogged my memory... I seem to recall losing a traction tire on a few occasions.

Using my highly advanced grey matter, I came to the conclusion that, because those models only have one powered truck, a significantly greater load; especially, when starting from a dead-stop, gets transferred to the traction tire(s); and, if that exerted force is strong enough... off comes the traction tire(s).

Grades/inclines and weight of the train you are pulling/pushing... are significant contributing factors; plus, the little guys die-cast body.

Rick, you cut me to the quick!    Prehistoric!!!!  I remember seeing on several occasions the Jersey Central unit working a yard in the Bronx, as we drove past going from NJ to LI.

Thanks, guys for the info.  Chuck, you're probably right and it's worth a try.  Now to find them in the market to avoid paying the MTH handling charge.

RJR,

I had my regular dealer approach another store, in another country, for the Reading I was after... At the time, it was well past the year the little box-cab was manufactured.

So I paid a little extra, for the additional service my regular guys provided...

The unit was packed with great details... everywhere you looked, there was something cool to see. Wish I still had it!

I'm doing a bit of HO, nowadays; wouldn't mind seeing MTH make a HO version... die-cast, too!

I always thought those box-cabs, would look great mu'd... pulling at train.

I'd been unable to get one back in 2007, and since then have been looking.  Found one, supposedly NIB, in York this past April on my final sweep through Orange Hall.  On the original, I was fascinated by the refrigeration-type coils on the roof.

It is unfortunate that MTH only makes box cabs, or any size, in Premier, and adie from this, most have required O-72 track.
