Is this open to anyone on here? I am hoping to be up there Saturday, but right now I'm waiting on the transmission shop. If the wife's car is finished tomorrow, then I'm on the way. If not, I have to wait until fall.
I can't make the breakfast. But i am going to attempt the show. I had my hip replaced last month and have mostly been confined to the house. I have a feeling there will be more mud than snow inthe parking lot.

Sure, the breakfast is open to all. Hope you can make it.

Normal people are welcome. They also let John Devlin and me attend.

The Allentown meet is open to anyone with $7 in their wallet for the admission fee.
If they restricted attendance to only "normal" people, it likely would be a very sparsely attended event.
The OGR contingent--that would be Ed and Don--just minutes ago departed OGR HQ en route to Allentown. I'm told they have many goodies aboard the OGR 18-wheeler (they left 14 of the wheels back here) that are sure to delight the trainheads in attendance. If they run out of "stuff," there will be free shipping on orders placed at the show.
I was also asked to remind folks of the forum member photo op on Saturday, at the OGR booth. I have no idea of the time, so hopefully it's listed elsewhere in this thread.
At 11:00 AM on Saturday the OGR forum group photo is taken at the OGR stand.
I'm not missing the OGR photo tomorrow, I missed it the last three times I was there.
See you all tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Alex

ok set your phone alarm for 10:45 so you can make it in time.
Is it worth the 4 hr one-waye drive from Northern Virginia?
Is it worth the 4 hr one-waye drive from Northern Virginia?
It's a great show but only the EXTREME train nut would think it worthwhile to drive 8 hrs roundtrip.
I'd do that for York but not Allentown, but that's just me.

I did it 2 years ago from Richmond. It was worth it!
.......but I am an extreme train nut!

Always seems to be a nice selection of MTH stuff. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

There is a little of every thing. I have found things from SGL ,Weaver,MTH,sunset 3rd rail.
Just rolled into town! Only a 300 mile drive for me :-)
Sadly, I just got knocked out of tomorrow. Car came back from the trans shop, but it isn't right. Maybe Sunday.
If only it was a little warmer, I could take my motorcycle. That would make for a more fun ride, too.
My son and I plan on going Saturday. I was completely surprised yesterday when my daughter asked if she could come too. She said she has her eye on a Circus Steam engine. I looked at my wife and said... well we can't disappoint our daughter.
WEATHER ALERT FOR EVERYONE WHO WILL BE ATTENDING THE ALLENTOWN MEET.
MOISTURE LEFTOVER FROM THIS AFTERNOONS SHOWERS... WILL FORM PATCHES OF BLACK ICE OVERNIGHT. BE ALERT FOR RAPIDLY CHANGING VISIBILITIES FROM FOG AND PATCHES OF ICY PAVEMENT.
Temperatures are listed as being below freezing through 8am in the Allentown area. With all the rain today and possible ice, please be careful driving.
not going to make breakfast, my car does not like ice. see you guys after 8 at the show.
I'm leaving at 4am so look for my green civic on the side of 78 if the ice is bad :-)
I will keep my eyes peeled
What makes the Allentown Train Show so good? Is it the amount of venders, low prices, seeing friends, etc. Just curious.
Watching Alentown eat his Foo Foo Pancakes! Is what makes the Allentown Train Show so good! The amount of venders, low prices, seeing friends is good too.Leaving soon, see you there.
The late man is leaving NJ in a few minutes. Should arrive around 10:30AM. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
Good job, Judy. Might have been better, however, if you replaced one of us them lugs in the photo.
Once again I had a great time at the HamFam as well as the meet. And given the weather this winter it couldn't have come at a better time.
Thanks to Joe S for making it in from the Pittsburgh area. Might be the longest trip yet...but youns guys can argue with the Richmond crowd
I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it. My wife was not feeling well this morning, so I didn't go up to Allentown. Hope I can make the breakfast some other time.
I just posted about my trek in the other reply on how Allentown was.
I made the 3.5 hour journey from Northern Virginia.
Was happy I went to my first Allentown "Spring Thaw", although I would have called it the "Ice Rink" when I arrived, but the "Mud Bog" when I left, which was too early, as I didn't stick around for the picture.... It was a GREAT meet, but IMHO, just not worth the 8 hours of driving and my left arm in tolls.
Reminder to me - NEVER go up 95 that way again. I still feel robbed of the $25 in tolls that the states of MD, PA, DE, NJ, or whomever took from me.
Came home the "back" way - much prettier drive...
Dave
Hot off the presses. Thanks to Judy our photographer.
sorry I missed you Chuck, got there late. only 2 jelly donuts left
