Ken Block is a great stunt driver but do not think I can recommend this particular video.
Too many kids are going to see this and try it.
Have You Driven a Ford Lately??? Just Kidding!!!
Chief Bob (Retired)
A dangerous idiotic stunt performed by a moron. Typical of the lack of common sense displayed by production people. Having worked on many movies I can attest to that. My last words to a stunt man before he drove off a pier on a movie I worked on just before he drowned was "why don't we use a remote controlled car!"
Coffee is hot, Don't use a hair dryer in the tub, yada yada yada.
If you're dumb enough to try this at home then...

What railroad agreed to participate in that stunt?
Not too bright.
my older brother was sixteen when he was killed trying to beat a train at a crossing
to glorify this type of behavior and make this look like anything other than a stupid and reckless stunt is wrong
The driving public preforms this same move uncounted times a day across the country and this moron thinks he's special?

That was totally COOOOL! Amazing how he went over the crossing slideways!!!
Its a stunt, and it looks like they took a lot of time to work out the details. That is what these guys get paid to do. Have you watched any of the Fast and Furious movies? Those very popular movies have a lot worse stuff for kids to try.
That was good, Thanks for posting Don.

Think the Ford CEO approved it?

Yes it will make them millions in stupid people trying to do it themselves.
What a bunch of BS! Driving skills good! The rest all setup with camera shots and angles. What a bunch of crap!

Which, along with all four wheels being in the air at the same time, indicates that the vehicle was not under control in the process. That's not COOOOL to me: it's inane. The adjective daredevil comes to mind in its most literal sense, a Triple Dog Dare.
Did any of you old geezers watch any of Ken Blocks car videos ? The one on the aircraft carrier was cool, tire over the edge of the deck. Sounds to me you had dull life. 99% of this video showed the preparation for this.
So all of you that complained about this video also hated "The Fugitive"? This was a stunt, and calculated out. I for one love watching Ken's videos. More so because I've done some "stunts" in my own cars over the years. How many of you can say you slid a '76 Suburban sideways to park it?
If this was done with an off-the-lot car and amateur driver without all the pre-preparation and authorization instead of a tricked-out stunt car, a professional driver with all the preparation and authorization entailed, then it would be a big problem.
But, this was done under a controlled environment with all parties in agreement. (Granted things could go wrong. Anybody remember David Letterman getting clipped by a locomotive handrail that was smashing through things on the track?)
I'm just not really sure what all this was supposed to prove, other than Ken Block's stunt driving skills. You certainly can't buy the stunt car at your local Ford dealer.

ha ha, awesome!
here is an even better train stunt! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxKn2NloIlQ
Would you let someone film this scene on your railroad? The lead actor, Shah Rukh Khan, is called the "King of Bollywood," is one of the most successful film actors in the world, so that isn't a nobody dancing around on top of a moving train, over high bridges, through tunnels, and dodging over hanging tree limbs.
Filmed on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, notice at locations, the steam locomotive uses a rack and pinion drive.

Bob, great music video. Just was counting the number of takes to made the video. Movies and video are still huge in India. Spent some time in Madras, the movie capital of the country. They still love their steam trains. Thanks for Posting, brings back wonderful memories. Don

Now you've done it! Now the old farts are going to complain that someone will watch one of Fast and the Furious movies and try to jump a car from one skyscraper to another because they saw it on tv.
wife and I believe it is a stupid thing to do.

Don,
I was born in Madras (now known as Chennai) & lived there for 23 years before moving to America in 2001. I don’t have any memories of seeing trains hauled by steam locomotives. I have vague memories of seeing a steam locomotive in a passenger train-yard when I was around 10 but don’t remember if it was similar to the one in your video.
These are just my opinion,
Thanks,
Naveen
So, I really have to ask: Is Block's stunt really any different that this kind of stuff?
I'd wager there were more precautions taken with Block's stunt that in the Keystone Cops films.

Probably not directly, but some Ford executive with Ford's Ford Performance division (the post originator) signed their approval since the video is property of The Ford Motor Co.
Pretty **** stupid IMO and somebody should have been fired. Because it proves nothing of worth. Just because you can does not mean you should.
yea, yea it was done by a professional crew and stunt driver and ok'd by two large companies. Stupid is stupid does. I have fired people for less.

I guess EVERYBODY in the entire stunt industry should be fired then, and all stunts done in CGI.
I don't see a whole lot of point to this stunt either, but it wasn't done in a vacuum. I'm pretty sure there were people up and down the corporate and local authority food chains that knew about this. As long as all the T's were crossed and I's dotted, there's nothing you can do about it.

Over the years I have noticed that you take personal pleasure in saying "so-and-so" should be fired!
Be careful of what you wish for, it might come back to bite you in the butt!
For what it's worth, you folks might want to view the episode of Jay Leno's Garage (available on YouTube) where he tested a 2013 Ford Focus ST (2 liter 252HP, TurboCharged with 6 speed manual transmission, and unbelievable 'European design' suspension) . Even if you believe you drive a "pretty hot car", one might want to watch out for these special edition Ford Focus ST cars on the street.

They can't I'm retired.
OK.... so after reading through some of the responses, I'll admit the following:
1) I'm an old fuddy-duddy....and d------d proud of it, Bubba! Geezers rule, babyyyyyy!!!
2) I think the driver/auto stunts in some of the modern movies are truly awesome! Far-fetched to reality, but exciting, nonetheless.
3) The original posting of this thread would have been more 'acceptable' to me if it had, indeed, been a Steve McQueen-ish effort for an upcoming Bullitt-ish movie in a green Mustang. But THAT car painted up like a NASCAR version of the Shriners-mobiles...
driven by a dime-a-dozen stunt driver with a make-momma-proud death wish?........good for a few high fives, a round of beers, and a buck-fifty paycheck.......IMHO, of course.
whoopee.
Besides........KB's sashay over the railway can't hold a candle to this guy from my generation for sheer CHUTZPAH!!!!.....
