Got it last week. Can't print it out myself for that price. I also have electronic version.
Bought one. I already have the electronic version and I always refer people to buy it so it is nice to have a bound copy.
It sure would be nice to have in the Kindle format.

Just get the PDF version and put it on the Kindle

I agree, it would be nice. I actually made a Kindle copy just to see how it would look. However, none of the tables translated to Kindle format with any kind of legibility at all.
The Kindle process, which has to start from the PDF copy since one cannot create a Kindle file directly from an Adobe InDesign (page layout) document, makes a horrible mess of columnar tables, of which the book has quite a few.
It would be necessary to replace all the tables with jpegs before translating the PDF to Kindle format. This would be a very, very long and painstaking process.
I'm with Chris, you can read PDF on the Kindle, so there's no real issue here, right?
I got a copy of the book yesterday from Amazon. It's even nicer than I thought - much better than my home-printed copy in a three ring binder. The illustrations are especially good. It's a great deal, especially with Amazon Prime's free shipping.
I have put the book on both the Nook and Kindle apps on my IPAD; no issues with pictures charts or anything. The Nook app takes a micro-sec to adjust and then the text and pictures are crystal. You can also zoom in, look up text and search(find) any text within the ebook; and add notes to pages.
So I dont know why Barry would need to reformat anything.
Alan,
You're looking at a pdf on a Kindle reader, not a mobi file on a Kindle reader. The difference is that while everything is formatted correctly, you have no control over font size. Yes, you can zoom in, however, that's not the same thing a adjusting font size so the text can reflow.
If the book's pdf as it is now was converted to mobi format the text would flow and blow way anything that even resembles a table or columns. In order to prevent that, I'd have to make every table or set of columns into a series of jpegs, which you could then zoom in on, just like you zoom in on any other picture. That's a lot of work for little gain.
Further, any time I had to change anything in a table, I'd have to change it in the original text in InDesign, then again convert it to a jpeg, and then make another pdf, and then convert the pdf to a mobi.
That's not about to happen any time soon.
Barry
Yes there are "some features" that cannot be accessed with a PDF, reformatting in ultra-text is one; but I cannot see that as a killing feature; especially with a ZOOM and search.
The point is to be able to READ your work on a mobile device and not lug-about a rather large book under and about my layout
.. . . .SO as I can go mobile... I'm happy!!
Alan,
If it works for you, I've not going to try to talk you into feeling differently!
