I need help with an MTH brass piper (11-1020-1) from the 2011 LCT catalog.  It's PS2 and I want to check the battery and perhaps put a BCR2 in it.  I'd also like to get access to the worm gear so I can grease it.

Problem is, I don't know how to disassemble this thing.  I've worked on a lot of Lionel/MTH Standard Gauge engines but these 4696's look totally different.

Does any have experience with these?  I'd appreciate it if you could tell me where to start.  Thanks.

Thanks, guys.  After I did what NWL suggested, there were four screws that held the whole assembly in place.  With that loose, it was easy to change the battery to a BCR2.  I used a long syringe for some Red N Tacky because taking apart that motor assembly is more than I care for.  This whole process was much more fiddly than I'm used to.

Basically, it is the same as the original prewar motors, which were held in by 4 screws also.  I have never worked on one of these MTH engines, but have disassembled an original prewar motor and the steps I outlined are what I did to access the prewar motor.
