1938 Gilbert's / American Flyer's die-cast Atlantic and Pacific were favorites among the emerging scale model world ...cheap RTR engine for $13.50...a mere fraction of any real O scale engine ....Gilbert one just needs a little bit of modifications to bring it to the scale side of the tracks .
Here we have a Gilbert shell ...scratch built chassis into a 4-6-0...full ball bearing races on drive axles and drive gears, universal motor , & scratch tender .
This engine ran out in California on the Tamalpa Lines RR....unknown who owned the RR ..
Anyone have a engine side cross head ?...engine runs but needs the cross head .
Thank you
Cheers Carey
