I've heard rumors of a retrofit kit for scale wheels for the SD70, but nothing to coroborate them.

I was inquiring about high rail wheel sets. on Good Friday we tried to put together a consist of seven of the SD-70 s with some success but we had a tendency to roll the tires off of the pulmor wheels. I think there is enough weight with these engines and with two power trucks you could do well even less the pullmor tires.

Rusty,
You are correct, the spur gears from the U33s and the SD70s are of a different ratio. I have been able to disassemble one of the pulmor wheel sets and reassemble with the non-pulmor wheels. Happy to say these newer Lionel diesels have power trucks that are much more serviceable than earlier engines.Thumbs up to this forum, its a wonderful place to acquire information and to get in touch with some very nice people who enjoy a great hobby. Thumbs up to Lionel also for a great improvement in the serviceability of their products.
