I just saw that Sidetrack Hobbies has listed a new MTH PS 2.0 President's Special set (11-2007-1). I'm bummed because I can't afford it right now. I thought I'd pass the word here though. That's a cool set from the 2009 LCT catalog.

Bought this one when it came out. Wish I could afford all of them.
Major. impressive layout can you post more photos.
This color in the MTH Tinplate Traditions version experienced major issues with the wheel gauging on the passenger cars. Made that mistake once and sold it....Always see them pop up on ebay but I've stayed away...makes this Lionel Corp version realllllllllll appetizing!

Its also nice to compare new with old. An old friend passed away and his daughter made the trip and added to my collection

probably one of my favorite tinplate sets ever. i love all sets with that particular electric like the mayflower is another good one if money and space and physical ability as far as body movement and muscles (cuz those things are so heavy) was not a problem i would love to build a standard gauge layout even more so than a traditional o gauge one
and i can never remember the nickname or numbers that american flyer gave that particular electric
I have been looking for one of these for awhile. When it came out, I thought I would wait a little while and pick one up for somewhat less than original price. Big mistake when it came to this set. Of the standard gauge trains I wanted, this is the last big one. One day a set will come along for sale. Hopefully, I will be in a position to purchase.
I have this set minus the engine. It is a beautiful train with wonderful proportions. I run it a lot with an MTH 392e. Mine had the problems with the wheel gauging - it was a big problem. I removed some of the axles (very difficult) and changed the location of spacers. Some wheel sets were ok after I added E-rings (clips) to space the wheels out. The wheels also wobble a bit, but stay on the track just fine after re-gauging. I like the AF bodied SG passenger cars so much that I bought a used MTH olympian set (with engine). I think the red set made a few years ago is amazing - some of the other people here can attest to that.
