No He is having family problems with the business since his Dad died.  He is on a sabatical

OGR will be there. Bill Parisi and I will be doing the honors.  We even have a slightly better position in the hall this year. They moved one of our tables over to a main aisle.  Makes us easier to find.

 

Have some great videos and buildings, in addition to new subscribers deal, and more info on Premium Memberships that includes our digital OGR subscriptions.

 

All that and Bill and I get to meet with everybody.

Why does the movie "The Usual Suspects" come to mind?

 

 

 ED, I never knew there was a main aisle.

That show is still only about 10% OGauge. It's mainly HO & N gauge, & a lot of layouts, strollers, and other things that block the aisles. It's not worth the 4 hour drive, and freezing waiting in line to pay. Also it cost about $20. before you even get in the place, and it's usually the coldest weekend of the year, about 10 above to Zero degrees, and you risk a snow storm that weekend. But I may go.

My wife and I will plan to be there and meet you for dinner at the Red Rose.

No doubt about it. You always seem to see the positive side of things.

 

Eddie, there are plenty of actual and potential O gaugers among the 20,000 or so folks who attend, and that is what makes it worthwhile.  Heck, every once in a while we even get an HO "convert" who can no longer see his tiny trains.

 

To me, it is much better than a lot of World's Greatest Hobby shows, because the folks who attend Springfield are more into trains than the folks who show up at WGH venues.

 

The wheat to chaff factor is greatly superior to "generalist" shows like WGH.  Besides, people really appreciate our videos and buildings as well as OGR magazine. That makes it lots of fun for Bill and I. There is plenty to discuss and we are happy to do it

 

Ok so it can be a "little" cold.  For the last two years we have lucked out and the glass may be half full again this year.  Eddie, the glass half full approach is an interesting concept and you may want to consider it.

Now that I have looked at the picture again, I see what you mean.

 

At least most of us are not in the Witness Protection program anymore and that is progress :-)

 

I guess calling us a wholesome group would be stretching things a bit (snicker).

Well, that put a particular perspective on attending the show again that I had, apparently, suppressed deep in my memory; so, maybe I won't make the trip from NJ afterall. Good ol' Eddie G, thanks, dude, for the reality check. And I love the irony of your last sentence.

What show are you going to??  Maybe 10% of what you are looking for but for the rest of us it's a lot more

 

Amherst Society does a good job keeping all the scales about even.  O is just one part is vast hobby.

Strollers definitely, but I doubt that it is only 10% O gauge. I have found some great O gauge deals at the Amherst show and I definitely plan on attending. It is about a 2-1/2 hour drive for us and my wife and I look forward to it every year. The only downside of that show is sloshing through the muck and mire to find a parking spot.

Drive to the other end of the fair ground on Memorial ave and go in the entrance on the west side.

I am not sure where Eddie got 10% but there is plenty of new and post war O. There are big and small retailers, parts and accessory stuff, all the big manufacturers  except Lionel, beautiful large modular groups in all gauges, etc., etc. You can buy your ticket on line if you cannot stand the cold. Last year I left my coat in the car as the weather was beautiful and you get to see or meet forum members at the OGR table. I have never gone home empty handed. I think it is a great show.

This is my favorite show out side of York  The layouts alone are worth it.

Since my first time going when I was about 4 or 5 I only missed 3 due to the marines I'm good this year and I will be joining you guys at dinner.

Meet and greet at the OGR booth with Ed's permission at 2 PM sound good?  In the main aisle we should be able to get a better pic this year.

Will be attending again with my wife this year. Travel by charter coach provided by my local club, The Nauset Model RR Club. It parks right between the two main buildings. Already have my orders into Ross and Mianne for pick-up at the show.

Planning on it.. weather and health permitting!Wife and I go every year. I drop her off at Webs Yarn in North Hampton about 20 minutes north on 91. go back to show spend about 3 to 4 hours wondering around (with my list of must see vendors) go back and pick her up. She usually almost ready to leave! Off to Cracker Barrel for dinner.

Locolawyer and I plan on being there and look forward to it. We expect to join you for dinner also. Had a great time last year.

York, Amherst and Allentown train meets are the best I attended in 2012. You won't be disappointed.

Had fun last you with you and Locolawyer.  Some of the NJ Highrailers will be with us this year.  May have to rent out the entire restaurant

Jeanne and I will be attending as part of the Nauset Model RR Club contingent.  Looking forward to the show and seeing everyone at the OGR booth.   

I will be there. This is such a great show. Got to eat at red rose last year and it was great. Would never have known about it if it wasn't for Gary.     John          

I will be there on Saturday cruising the aisles looking for scenery stuffs, and other stumble-on things I cannot resist.
