Good morning,

Most of the time, this engine works great!!

However, there are times when it is non responsive, either in Blue Tooth or TMCC mode: when this occurs, every function works, EXCEPT IT DOESN’T MOVE, FORWARD OR BACKWARD.
I NEED TO TURN OFF TRACK POWER, SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE, until it “kicks into gear”.
The purchase date was 6/28/2022.

As we all know, Lionel is difficult to deal with at times. Do I just live with this as is?  Annoying.

Known issue. The problem with the LCP2 board based trains like this one is the motor locked safety code in the firmware might be a bit senstive.

How it gets invoked- this has speed control (Odyssey) using an encoder tachometer on the flywheel of the motor reporting the speed back to the controller. You vary the speed of the engine and that is the target RPM or speed pulse count rate the controller wants to achieve. If the source voltage is low (track voltage dip or dead spot) then the motor controller cannot keep or achieve this RPM and assumes the gearbox is locked. This then locks out the motor driver and is supposed to flash the cab light as an error code.

That said- with the number of people reporting this that the cab light never blinks, but the engine stops and doesn't respond to motion- all other things work, but the last telltale- power cycle of the track then it starts working- point to firmware locking out the motor- just not displaying the cab light blink code.
