Just got back home from the ceremonial first run from Washington, DC to Norfolk.  Quite a celebratory mood was in evidence.  A surprisingly large crowd attended, I would say, on a gray, 48 degree, windy day.  It looks like the folks in the area are ready and waiting for train service.  A big tent offered coffee, mounds of cookies, and lots of freebies.  The train was only a few minutes late arriving.  It was pulled by 2 GE Genesis units, the lead one painted in the old "bloody nose" scheme and denoting 40 years of AMTRAK "1971-2011".
