Amtrak F-7's

I do believe they did have a few ex Southern Pacific FP-7 for a couple of years in the early '70's.

In the early 1970's it was common to see these units handling the Empire Builder and North Coast Hiawatha between Seattle and Chicago, extending the earlier practice of GN, NP and BN to use F units on these routes.  Amtrak 150 and 151 were ex-GN F7B units.  E units were not well suited to mountainous routes for various reasons (although UP did it but used a lot of them in their consists).
