I was watching Fox 8 this morning and they showed the story and the lead engine was Amtrak Hertiage P42 #66. They showed the engine has ice on it from the heat from the exhaust. I hope someone has a picture of this.
There's a story on Yahoo about it right now. Some are without food, heat, and bathrooms backed up.....hope everyone gets through it sanely and safely.
They were literally half between two stations, aka about 30 miles either way. Couldn't go forward, I don't know if they could have gone back to Princeton. There isn't much between Mendota and Princeton so if they get stuck there they are really screwed. That's probably why you should keep at least one plow next to the wreck train!
BNSF is bringing in the rotary snowplow from Lincoln, NE. That should clear the line.
