National Defense Service Medal (second from left).
WWII Service , National Defense, Korea, Vietnam, Southwest Asia, Kosovo, Afghanistan Campaign, Iraq, Global War on Terror (both Service and Expeditionary Medals).
He means Southeast Asia, of course.
Correct.
There was a separate Liberation of Kuwait medal.
Everyone I know that was in the first Gulf War got both the SW Asia ribbon and the Liberation of Kuwait ribbon.
Allen,
Southeast Asia would be Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, (Philippines?) etc.
1. I'm glad Amtrak did it.
2. But the livery does not turn me on!
Good Point Stuart, That IS the answer.
I must agree with Dominic, the livery does nothing for me, glad as I am they did the tribute.
I have several of those ribbons on my wall.
Timing is everything, No Liberation of Kuwait for me. But I have the Southwest Asia ribbon among my group.
The "direct" significance of the number is Amtrak's current age. Although if the meaning of life also involves remembering those who keep us free, its also fitting.
