Isn't Acela an electric train? Amtrak would have to electrify that line; more probably than not, that will never happen.

The first Acela did make a trip between Detroit and Chicago. An Amtrak Genesis provided power. Amtrak was showing off their baby. The only (Back then) 110mph Amtrak owned right of way outside the NE Corridor that runs between Kalamazoo, MI and Porter, IN provided entertainment to dignitaries on board.

Hi Ken - Thanks for sharing the story about the Amtrak Acela coming to the Wolverine Line. Detroit - Chicago.

With the new loco and cars maybe they will do it again.

Exactly! No way that those Acela train sets will ever operate on any system except the Northeast Corridor, which is ALL electrified.

LOL they don't work in the Northeast Corridor either.  The new Acela train sets are delayed, oh what a surprise, they don't work on the Northeast corridor due to issues with the catenary and the new pantographs on the trainsets.   Just another botched Gov job.
