I use Lionel TMCC Cab 1 with 135 watt transformers and Power Masters.  That's it.  I use no other power supplies.  I also have a few MTH PS-1 locos that have been running silent since I acquired them.

A while back I installed some MRC AC Sounder boards in some dummy locos.

Guess what?  When I run a PS-1 loco with the MRC equipped dummies, the PS-1 sounds function.  The CAB-1 horn and bell buttons work just like they should.

Has anyone else discovered this?

I have a QSI, I think QS2+ board, it's got the same menus as the PS-1, in a MTH Berk and it has always worked perfectly w/o any extras using the exact same power setup you have.

If you set the PS-1 to "auto-select" the power supply, it should work alone.  This feature may actually be the one major difference between the straight PS-1 board and the QS2+.

Rob,

QSI boards aren't a problem with Lionel bricks, but PS1 is. Straight PS1 soundboards just won't work correctly with them unless you tweak the circuit. There used to be a work around to get PS1 to work by placing a capacitor across the power output.  That never struck me as an overly safe thing to do should the cap ever blow up.

I was also able to get the sounds to work by running two PS1 locos together, but that was murder on the traction tires.

I suspect that something in the MRC board is affecting the power just enough to suddenly bring my PS1 sound equipped loco's to "life".
