I finally decided now or never to purchase one of the Christmastime Hobby Shop--as it reminded me of the good ole days of the Christmas windows of my old hometown of Scranton, PA---purchased it new in the box from a very reputable Lionel dealer and as I checked it out am very puzzled how this thing is "supposed" to function. The train on the layout runs great but only when the controller is used and only when you press down on the controller...directions indicate controller if "locked" the train will keep moving but mine will only run when controller button continually held down....the light function works fine...also if unit is hooked directly to a plug-N-play lockon directly minus the controller it lights fine but the train does not move....so I am puzzled by this...in one way for me it is good to just have the train run only with the controller to minimize problems noted by others....so just asking opinions on what others have regarding the operation of this item. At least it does work but puzzling---and my thoughts are always "do not confuse the confused" Thanks for any thoughts--and Happy Holidays to everyone. Jim
