I am finished designing/building my building crane project. Now I am faced with another question for the electronically proficient. How do you mount an Arduino Mini once it is ready to mount to your project? I hate to give up my proto board permanently. Seems like there should be a way but I'm stumped.

If your project is assembled on something like a prototyping board with 0.1" hole pitch, you can solder male pin headers to the prototyping board and then solder the Arduino to those.

Or if you want to make the Arduino removable, you can solder female headers to the protoboard and male headers to the Arduino (or vice versa), then just insert.

I bought 1/2 size solderable breadboards on Amazon.  Here's a photo of the raw board along with the finished project and a short video of the animation it controls.  There's and mp3 player that plays steam crane sounds.   The sound file came from a free internet sound effects site. As Professor Chaos pointed out you can solder headers to the borad and make the compents removable.
