I dont do the "this weekend only" kinda sales, but I do lower prices on things, when I think they are just too high from the beginning, or sometimes I can pick up things that we havent had in stock before at a lower than normal price, and then offer them at a decent price compared to retail.

Im still threatening to put stuff in the "case lots" category, which will become the "Clearance/case lots" category. Theres a lot of stuff here that I can offer at 30% or 40% off, but in case lots of 4 pieces to a case, generally.
