That’s not true! We had a 700e (converted to 2-rail), an MTH 2-rail with white walls and my CV has all its flanges turned down with tireless drivers!
We also had vintage NYC playing on a projector as well as a lot of NYC stuff on display from our own collection!
We had an epic time!
The weather cooperated, we had about 50 people, the layout ran great, it was good to see friends from North Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts, western New York and the Capital district!
The modelers’ showcase was great! Mercury’s and Commdores, and an aforementioned 700e, and brass, New Haven I-class, Blunami-equipped super detailed Williams; Hudson’s from all over the country.

Wow looks like YUZ GUYZ ahead a wonderful time there yesterday. Man even had the two BIG GUYZ there in PETE and PAT, giving their expertise in the subject matter. Looks like a great looking layout and had the big screen running too in the background….great job!!!! Chicken and food looked delicious!!!!
The Masters holding court at Hudson Fest
This was the entry field for best looking Hudson at yesterday's Hudson Fest in Syracuse. Entering my New Haven I-5 Hudson was like going to an opponents ball park to play the game. However there were some incredibly good looking NYC Hudsons. It was a different idea and a lot of fun.

Laz, it was a fine time. As for the food each serving could have fed a family of six. If you left hungry it was your own fault. Thanks to Phil, Mario, and the rest of the Syracuse club for putting up with us.

Dang Pete, if I would have come, I could have eaten the portion for a family of six. Good thing I couldn't make it.
This event was the first of its kind, put together with some improv, beings we just didn’t know what to expect!…..we found out it was quite the gathering, and really quite the social experiment for folks to come together to celebrate the 4-6-4 Hudson type, or Baltic type, or whatever you’d like to call them. With all the socializing going on, we did not have time for a judging ceremony,……but as I said, this was the first experiment, and it works, and it was popular, so we’ve got nowhere to go but up!….we’re on the ground floor of this event, & I think Mario, Phil, Tim, and the rest of the motley crew did an outstanding job putting it together, hosting it, and making everyone feel welcome, …..& Tim’s cooking was just sensational!….as mentioned, if you left hungry, that was your fault!!…….we’ve already discussed some preliminary plans for next year!…..so stay tuned, we’ve just begun!!….I wouldn’t miss it for the world!…..on behalf of MTH Parts & Sales, thank you for having us, and providing such a wonderful atmosphere!….

A Hudson is a Hudson is a Hudson. No judging ceremony? Was that supposed to be which Hudson was the best Pat? They'd all be winners in my book. Just looking down that lineup in the video, what's not to love?

We wanted to have a panel judge the entries, ….there was a lot of talent under one roof, ….but all of us were so busy explaining what we had built, and how we built it, we simply ran out of time …..we were impressed so much with the line up, we spent a lot of time just checking out each other’s custom work!!….Pete brought his Blunami equipped Hudson, and it was a real crowd pleaser!…..there’s a lot of cool features on that tiny little board, and Pete put a lot of them to use!….and it ran flawless,…..then the Jubilee Hudsons came out, and even more talking & socializing over it!….heck, I didn’t get a chance to grab my Jubilee Hudson from Phil till near 6PM!…..it was a fantastic event where true modelers, craftsmen, & collectors alike could share ideas, facts, important details, and how it’s done ……I can see this event expanding, with clinics, seminars, demonstrations, & you name it Dave!…..

Skip, that would’ve been awesome if you brought it!….we had a fella bring an original 700E, and although it was modified, it was still a crowd pleaser, and focal point of the modeler’s showcase……I sure hope you & Gary and the other Hudson nuts can attend when we do it again!….

Oh contraire mi amigo, …..the more the merrier, …..Phil even brought out some of his Prewar Lionel OO Hudsons, ….you don’t see them too often anymore, so it was great to see them out!….

Ooh, I may have to put on the imaginary glasses I joke about to get a better look at those old things. If I am to attend, we may have to get a Hudson that is worthy of being in the mix Pat. One of those ones Superman can't beat, haha. Well, you know I've got a lot of stuff to become projects.

The possibilities are endless!…….folks that restore antique Hudsons, 2 rail Hudsons, folks like Carey Williams with his outrageous antique 2 rail and outside 3rd rail Hudsons……it can grow & grow…..

I never owed any two rail Hudson's. Never seem to see them when I was in smaller scale. Good thing when I went up Hudson's a plenty. Can never have enough. Joked last week that there was another K-Line one on eBay. I explained to my coworkers I already had two, and that one was at my buddy Pat's to become a much better Hudson. The other would be even moreso.

One of each here in NY, and one also at Pat’s… now #5272!
We thought it prudent it visit home rails while he was in town. I got to see my progeny, if even for a little bit. She’ll play nice with the other thoroughbreds.

Mario, Pat has a few of the Central's other engines like a Niagara, Mohawk, and a few Hudson's. Thing is that is only the tip of the iceberg as there are a few others with gearbox issues(most probably anyway) of the Central and some other, cough, cough, competition, Pennsy. I'm going to wait before having these great number of engines take up space at Pat's, last thing he needs. Oh, I almost forgot. He also has my Weaver Royal Hudson too. That is back burner still as there are Central Hudson's to work on first before more Hudson's make the trip.
What you didn't see in the video or pictures was my Commodore with tireless drivers pulling 18' 6" of 10 Lionel heavyweights and a milk car! All thanks to Pat's handiwork!

The very elusive stump pulling, prototypical masterpiece? ARGH!! Mario, you are going to have to get that in a video pulling out the hard work on the water level route, showing those other railroads how it is done. I was chatting to @Mark Boyce about a post some time ago or an email in regards to one of those stump pulling Hudson's. I am not sure where it was, but I do know that either Pat said something about one of Pete's monsters, or Pete said it on the post. I can hear the sounds. Images of the train pulling out of Chicago, scenes from Some Like It Hot(although I think the stock footage is a Berk or something with 8 drivers). Hear the sax playing?
