Every year it is our family tradition to make a nighttime trip down to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. It is about a 20 minute drive from our house. We usually eat dinner at one of the restaurants and just "walk The Wharf." This year I got a few photos of the Hyde Street cable cars and one of the restored PCC streetcars that run along Jefferson Street on the Wharf. The San Francisco Municipal Railway has many restored PCC streetcars from around the United States. The one in this pic is from Detroit. They also have one from Cleveland and one in their original SF Muni colors and logo. They also have restored trolleys from Milan, Italy. Besides all the wonderful SF Muni traction, we saw the many decorated fishing boats and the USS Jeremiah O'Brien, a fully restored World War II Liberty ship. We ended our night with a caricature sketch and an Irish Coffee at the 100-year old tavern called The Buena Vista.

That looked like a lot of fun.
Ahhhh, the Buena Vista - Home of Irish Coffee and a SF mainstay for ever.
Lived in the Bay Area for many years - what a great place, thanks for sharing the pics.

ps, try Tadiches Bar & Grill on California Street, I believe it is the oldest restaurant in the city and the Cioppino really is worth writing home about...
What, no crabs? Are they not in season? And where the sourdough bread? Any true tourist knows they are both a must!

But a native knows where the best are. No crab that night...although it is in season. I snapped this pic of the bakers making some sourdough. We did have some hot clam chowder in a sourdough bowl...with some Anchor Steam Beer. Matt

Boy that looks good.
Loved those San Francisco PCCs all painted up in different cities colors operating up and down Market St. Just find a bench to set on and watch the parade. I used to ride and see them in Brooklyn, NY running on Coney Island Av. also on Mac Donald Av going right passed where the Train World store is today, and on Church Av. and 7th and over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. Food and drink just add to the enjoyment of the day and night.
