Trying to start slow in the DCS system, so I have a simple circle with one PS-1 engine. I hooked up the TIU as the book described, but didn't seem to be getting any power out of the Variable (conv/DCS) out 1 port. I have a Z-1000 going into the Fixed Voltage In 1, and the fixed (DCS) out 1 is reading about 19v when I put the meter on it. But when I power up the variable 1 out, and put the meter on it, I get 0. Any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong, or is it the TIU? Thanks. Dave

The var channel also needs a power supply Did you jumper fixed 1 IN over to var IN?
Var out to the track. Use the TR button to scroll up the voltage. A new or reset remote has the var channel already set up.
Thanks Gregg, that seems to have fixed the problem. Volts are up, and the track is working. I've got the DCS companion, but I obviously didn't figure it out. Hopefully as I build the layout, things will go smoother!

They will go smoother! Welcome. While there are many answers in the companion, there are always more here. Make yourself at home.
Thanks Marty, I knew when I joined that this would be a great community to be associated with. I'm sure I will have many more questions as I build my layout, but it's great to be welcomed. My significant other finally agreed to a railroad upstairs, so it promises to be fun. Dave
Wash1,
I recommend now that you have a DCS, that you invest in Barry's DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd addition book, and the OGR DCS Video guide. Read the book and watch the OGR video guide, there is a wealth of DCS education in these two items.

I appreciate all your comments, and maybe I just need to read the companion a little more closely so I don't miss the details. I think I will definitely get the video's, as what they say is true... "A picture is worth a thousand words"!!
Gromet,
He says he has a book, I thought he is talking about the instruction book,
not the DCS Companion, I see he has one now. I also like the OGR DCS Video Guide, Rich goes over powering the TIU and even shows the power supply and how to hook it up.
