The VintageHubby (Tom) is creating his own permanent Wide Gauge/Standard Gauge on-the-floor Basement Layout. He had bought STD84 curves for two circles quite a while back from USA Track, and very recently decided to start work on a layout. This unique layout will be in the large "Cinema "wall" area of the basement, near the pool table. He will be utilizing much of his original vintage Barclay soldiers of the WWI era (silver helmets) and medical personnel, and plenty of their accompanying accessories.
Two large loops of tracks on stained and varnished plywood underlay roadbed. A platform for stations etc. added in front of the trackline in front of the Cinema 'screen' area. And a large upper platform 12" above that. Its a double decker area- wow!
The two main trains and their cars for this layout are very special; an original Boucher 2222 engine & its original matching Boucher tender, and my original 1931 American Flyer bell ringer engine and its original AF 1931-1932 tender. The Boucher will be pulling original Dorfan litho freight cars! The AF will pull an original set of decal red AF passenger cars. On the upper center platform, I'm getting an original 1935-1939 Lionel 1835E loco with its matching original Lionel 1835W tender. It will pull my repro Lionel blue & silver 309, 310, and 312 passenger set. Another long narrow stained platform is on one wall side of the layout next to the track for creating a large Barclay display.
