Now you have a master to make a mold from which you can cast multiple copies in resin.....

Not a bad idea. I've never done any casting, but this may be an opportunity to give it a try. The nice thing about using a steel washer, is the rust factor. A lot of saw mills were outside under a T shed or some other roofed open sided building, and the blades would rust a bit.

Very cool, Don!  If you ever do cast them in resin I would be a customer for a couple at least!

WOW!!!!!!! a fender washer never looked so good.

I can make them for you from washers if you'd like, they don't take long. Now I have a pattern, so I don't have to do the layout work.

Ed, It was nice seeing you and your wife again at dinner on Friday. You have to choose your friends more carefully; Larry is a bad influence!

Are you trying to get me in trouble? Actually, The saw blade took about 15 minutes to cut with the dremel. It took a few minutes to lay out the tooth pattern. Now that I have the template, I can do two or three at a time. The leaf springs are easy to make too. The most time consuming part is bending the banding around the stacked leaves.

I made a batch of these at lunch and break today. I'm going to make some more leaf springs too. I'm also going to experiment with mufflers and exhaust pipes. I made a scale section of duct, but I want to try and put the stiffening bends on the top and bottom. I may have to use aluminum, as it it really hard to get a nice bend with the box and pan break I have.

I didn't know you were an OGR forum member. I guess I called you out! It was great seeing you and Lynne at dinner last Friday.

One of the most intricate things I ever made was the set of headers in the photo below.  It is outside of Lucas Doolin's moonshiner's hot rod shop.  The vignette is set up with a blue LED under the green Ford, powered by a welding simulation circuit, as if the other half of the set is under the car being welded on.

 

Really cool Lee. I bet those guys wish they had a mat or piece of cardboard to lay on!

No doubt they wish they had thought of that!  That poor mechanic has been on his back under the car with that welder for months.  He';s a touch guy, but . . .
